When Lancaster Cohousing took on Halton Mill there was lots of building work to be done and we didn’t have enough funds to replace the lift at that time.  In 2017 we are committed to installing a new lift in the existing lift shaft, and ensuring that as well as having a lift, the rest of the building works for people with all kinds of disabilities. This means widening doors, levelling floors, installing grab rails, induction loops and braille signage, and improving our signage overall.  We are very keen to talk to representatives of all disabled groups to ensure that we are working to meet your needs.

swapWe are running various fund raising events to raise money for our Lift Fund – the next is on Saturday 25th February -a Sustainable Style event with catering by the People’s Cafe from 2 p.m.  Bring party clothes to swap: and find a new look with the help of a stylist, a makeup artist, two seamstresses and a Visible Darning expert.  Then spend the evening being photographed in your new look listening to local bands and eating a Lancaster People’s Cafe special supper.
