Halton Repair Cafe

Lancaster & Morecambe Repair Cafe is designed to eliminate waste, by coming together as a community, to repair items and share skills and tools to enable future generations to repair their own wares and encourage a more sustainable future.

Sara Dobson, who organises the Repair Cafe across the district, said: "Halton Mill will be our fourth venue around the district, making it accessible for people in the local area.

"We have recently been fortunate enough to secure our first batch of funding through the National Lottery Pots of Possibility, which we hope will help the sustainability of the group.

"We have over 500 members now and many volunteers, along with a small but strong committee that help towards the events.

"It is open to anyone in the community and we particularly encourage people who can share repair skills in sewing, woodwork, electronics, mechanics and electricals.

"Our future plans will include offering training to people from the community, from PAT Testing to a range of repairs."

Halton Repair Cafe launches on January 30 and if successful will run on the last Thursday of each month.
